“Empathies” Scenocosme personal exhibition at Centre Labanque in Béthune until July 23 2017

Scenocosme - Metamorphy, 2014

The duo Scenocosme exposes his work to Labanque, Center for production and diffusion in visual arts of Béthune until July 23, 2017.

This exhibition entitled “Empathies” brings installations that question our relationships with the natural, social, technological environment through contact, touch and distance. The body is a continuous interface with the world and the skin is both a protective and porous border. With nearly 10 works, the duo presents all of his work at the Center for production and diffusion in visual arts of Bethune.

Scenocosme explores the symbolic surface of the skin, its porosity, and its varied interactions with the environment. They interpret these invisible exchanges by inventing visual and sound languages.

Spectators are invited to touch and explore all facilities. Each support of the hand reveals different sensations. The exploration of this symbolic skin and its different layers reveals the intimacy of an imaginary universe. The visual and sound materials evoke deep, meditative universes through organic, liquid or incandescent substances.

The duo is working on hybridization between plant and digital technology. For example, “Phonofolium” is an interactive work which presents a shrub reacting to the electrostatic contact. When a person skims the shrub, it begins to sing according to the proximity of the contact. “Rencontres imaginaires” proposes a staging where the real reflections are confused with the virtual images, offering the illusion of a distorted reality. The duo also plays a lot with our perception of sound. The work “Echos” represents this kind of work. The reliefs of Time engraved in the resonance wood of this mulberry tree are felt and read in real time and produce rhythmic sound. This object is put in resonance with a drawing built according to the principle of only one continuous line evolving/moving during time.
