On April 22th 2017, at Hotel de la Poste, a debate will be held on the digital transformations of the Contemporary Art world presented by Alain Servais, one of the first Digital Art collector.

Art Brussels will host several discursive programs, from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 April. On the occasion of the new edition of Art Brussels, collectors, artists and gallery directors will exchange around the complexity and the ratio of power existing to the global transition towards a digital society.

This panel will examine the recent developments of technology in contemporary art and highlight its importance in relation to a transition into a digital society. Alain Servais (collector, Belgium), will talks to Valentina Volchkova (International Director Pace gallery, Paris), and Hampus Lindwall (collector, Sweden) to assess the role of digital technology in art and discuss how it has changed since it gained public attention in the late 90’s. existing to the global transition towards a digital society.

Through the work of JODI and Félix Luque Sánchez, they will explore how artists are responding to technology as a new tool and the different aspects and problematics that digital and technological methods bring to light, as preservation, access and property.

This debate program about Art market joins the 35th edition of Art Brussels. This year Art Brussels announces a collaboration with internationally renowned exhibition maker Jens Hoffmann and distinguished curator and critic Piper Marshall for the flagship artistic project situated within the fair. Called Mementos: Artists’ Souvenirs, Artefacts, and other Curiosities, the exhibition brings together personal objects and artefacts from the private collections of a diverse group of artists, all of whom are represented by galleries participating in Art Brussels 2017.
