Born in Santiago, Chile, in 1980, Javiera Tejerina-Risso came to France in 1999 to study audiovisual production. She now lives and works in Marseille. The video piece Isla invites us to cross the waters to discover an unknown island. For the duration of the video, we are led to explore its uneasy and mysterious landscape. On this island, a fictitious and imaginary territory, humans seem insignificant in their relationship with Nature. It is nothing but an artifice, as the almost imperceptible physical presence of the island inhabitants hides their actions and consequences. The notion of landscape fully assumes its meaning, as people and nature intertwine.
