Scenocosme at the Hong Kong Microwave International New Media Art Festival , June 4-12, 2016

The interactive artwork Akousmaflore of the French duo Scenocosme (Grégory Lasserre and Anaïs met den Ancxt) is currently exhibited at the Hong Kong Microwave International New Media Art Festival, till June the 12th.

The festival, created in 1996 by Videotage, a non-profit organization specializing in the promotion, presentation, creation and preservation of new media art, has become ever since a major event in the digital art universe and, more generally, in the contemporary art world. As technology progressed and became more accessible, video art slowly evolved to involve other media; thus Microwave began to embrace the wider range of new media art and provides today an interesting selection of digital creations.

Akousmaflore is an interactive installation, a small garden composed of living musical plants, which react to gentle contact. Each plant reacts in a different way to contact by producing a specific sound. The plant «language» or song occurs through touch and the close proximity of the spectator. Our invisible electrostatic energy acts on the plant branches and encourages them to react. The plants sing when the audience is touching or stroking lightly them. A plant concert is created.

Scenocosme is an artist duo formed by Grégory Lasserre and Anaïs met den Ancxt. They live in the Rhône-Alpes in France and work together since 2003. There singular creations take shapes through several expressions: interactive installations, plastic art, digital art, sound art, collective performances etc. By distilling digital technology, they bring to light the essence of dreams and poetry, using the living, sensitive and fragile part of it. Being plastic artist, they divert various technologies to create contemporary art works. They develop the notion of interactivity, with which the artwork exists and evolves notably through the physical and social relations that the spectator has with the artwork. Read More
