The physical ramifications of digital connectivity are often forgotten. Bjork asks us to consider the social imaginaries constructed around the reliability of computing technology and the geographical changes these technologies bring about. In this animation, the drift of the camera robotically resets every 2 seconds, while the auto tries relentlessly to move beyond the blockage. The vehicle is stuck, yet the navigation continues to persuade the car to proceed through the blockage. This animation continues the fascination Aaron Whitney Bjork has with the ways in which the automobile is used as a symbolic artifact of individual ideology and the speculative futures autonomous vehicles will soon deliver with emergent technologies.
