Text messages are generated by randomly writing a single first word, which is followed exclusively by a smartphone’s automatic next-word suggestions. While this process eliminates any decision, the algorithm also includes personal statements without revealing to what extent it does so. The speaker becomes an undefined hybridization between a human and a program.
