Thomas Ouellet Fredericks practices a form of cybernetic art to which he integrates science-fiction and social aspects by addressing serious themes, always with a touch of humour. He is interested in systems, their functioning and the feedback between their various elements. On the aesthetic level, this interest is expressed through what he calls “optoelectroacoustics”: the creation of an image that sounds good and retroactively, and a sound which is aesthetically pleasurable. He considers himself a real multimedia artist: he works with sound, image, printing, as well as television culture. He lives in Montreal and teaches at the University of Québec in Montreal.
